Leonie Wainwright
Director and Chartered Architect at Dewis Architecture Ltd
Leonie has lived in Rhyl for the past five years. Originally from the Conwy Valley, she returned to North Wales after qualifying as an architect and has since developed a strong connection to the town, alongside a growing commitment to supporting its future.
Through her professional work across sectors including housing, education, social care, and leisure, she has led multidisciplinary teams, worked closely with local authorities and communities, and championed inclusive, accessible design.
Leonie joined the Board to play an active role in shaping a positive and sustainable future for Rhyl, ensuring that investment is used wisely to deliver meaningful, long-term benefits. She is particularly passionate about revitalising the town centre, tackling anti-social behaviour, and challenging outdated perceptions of the town.
Alongside her architectural work, Leonie has held governance roles with professional bodies and contributed to wider conversations around placemaking and regeneration. She hopes the 10-year plan will build pride, improve safety, and attract investment. For her, success means a bustling, inclusive town where people feel safe, connected, and proud, supported by lasting regeneration and opportunity.
